Cholsey Farm is a Buckinghamshire alternative to an expensive trip abroad, and offer both guided hacking tours as well as holiday cottages if you want to stay more than one day.
Try horse polo
Horse polo is a fast-paced game and offers a very different experience than many equestrians are used to. There are a number of polo clubs that offer lessons to those interested in testing or learning to play polo. They can provide club horse and you get to learn the game and play. One club that offers lessons is Ham Polo Club in Richmond, where you can buy both individual lessons as well as a seasonal membership.

Is the person you want to gift interested in dressage and want to try more advanced stuff? The Talland School of Equitation offers lessons on school masters and elite dressage horses. They require an assessment lessons at first to make sure that they can match the rider with the right horse, and both horses and trainers are of very high standard.
trip to The New Forest
You can of course arrange a riding holiday in the New Forest, but the feral ponies makes it a wonderful location to visit for the equestrian from the car, bike or foot as well - and might be something that also you could enjoy. There are many cute villages where you can stay, beautiful landscapes and local pubs to visit.
Magazine subscription
A magazine subscription is something that most will enjoy, but might not spoil themselves to. There are a few UK options, two of them are Horse & Hound and Horse & Rider. They will provide news on what's happening in the equestrian world, tips on jumping and dressage exercises, interviews with top riders and much more.
